From Chapter 2 — Conflict is Good: Why You Want It

Mining for the opportunity in conflict is like mining for gold. You have to dig through a lot of mud and rocks until you eventually find those valuable nuggets. Sometimes you have to brave some pretty harsh conditions. Remembering the gold is there makes the work worthwhile. Additionally, the better we learn to read our situations, learn the tools, and adopt techniques that make conflict resolution possible, the more we’ll be able to gain from conflicted experiences.
